The 2017 US Open draw ceremony was held Friday at Flushing Meadows, NYC, where Roger Federer is seeded third, on the quest for his record breaking sixth US Open title, and 20th grand slam overall. The Swiss maestro is coming off a minor layoff to rest after injuring his back during the Coupe Rogers final in Montreal on August 13. Arriving Tuesday, the 36-year-old Swiss has been back on the practice courts in preparation for the season’s final grand slam, which begins Monday, August 28. He will face the 19-year-old American, Frances Tiafoe, in the first round, followed by a potential second round match against either Blaz Kavcic of Slovakia or Mikhail Youzhny of Russia. By seeding, the 5-time US Open champion would face thirty-first seed Feliciano Lopez in the third round, and either fourteenth seed Nick Kyrgios or seventeenth seed Sam Querrey, in the round of sixteen (fourth round).
