Nike has released an updated version of the iconic Air Zoom Oscillate on the shoe’s twentieth anniversary. Two decades ago, Nike debuted a signature tennis shoe for the legend Pete Sampras. The 14-time grand slam champion was known for preferring not to switch up his gear once he found something he liked. After all, the American used the same original Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 racket for his entire career. When it came to footwear, Sampras would find the Oscillate to meet his high standards and wore the shoe from 1997 to his official retirement in 2003, winning four consecutive Wimbledon titles (1997-2000) and the 2002 US Open title, the last professional match he played.
Celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the shoe, the updated model features some modernization, with a neoprene lining the inside for comfort around the foot, a seamless molded upper leather, and added support with their Zoom-cushioned sole unit. The shoe debuts in the two original colorways won by Sampras, in classic white/navy and sporty black/red.
