Roger Federer makes his first trip to Turkey, as he will take part in the inaugural TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open. The brand new ATP World Tour 250 tournament will be played on red clay at the Koza World of Sports facility. The Swiss maestro leads the draw as the top seed, receiving a first round bye. He will play either Jarkko Nieminen of Finland or Marsel Ilhan of Turkey. Federer and Ilhan will take part in an exhibition match Monday evening.
The 17-time grand slam champion is projected to face sixth seeded Mikhail Kukushkin in the quarterfinals, and fourth seeded Santiago Giraldo in the semifinals. Second seeded Grigor Dimitrov leads the bottom half of the draw and is Federer’s predicted final round match-up by seeding.
