2018 Shanghai Rolex Masters Draw – The 2018 Shanghai Rolex Masters draw was held Saturday in Shanghai, where seven of the top ten players will be in action next week. Defending champion Roger Federer is the top seed, who arrived yesterday, first stopped in Tokyo and Kyoto to take part in events for Uniqlo. The Swiss maestro also participated in the Kids’ Day event, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Shanghai Rolex Masters. Federer receives a first round bye and will face either Daniil Medvedev of Russia or wildcard entry, Ze Zhang of China. He could face fourteenth seed Milos Raonic in the third round, with projected matchups against eighth seed Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals, and third seed Juan Martin Del Potro in the semifinals. Other seeded players in the top half of the draw include sixth seed Dominic Thiem, ninth seed Diego Schwartzman, and thirteenth seed Borna Coric.
Leading the bottom half of the draw are second seed Novak Djokovic, fourth seed Alexander Zverev, fifth seed Marin Cilic, and seventh seed Kevin Anderson. Other seeded players in the draw include tenth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, eleventh seed Kyle Edmund, fifteenth seed Pablo Carreno Busta, and sixteenth seed Marco Cecchinato. Wildcard entries have been granted to Chinese players Ze Zhang, Yibing Wu, and Zhe Li, with the final wildcard awarded to 3-time grand slam champion, Stan Wawrinka.
Main draw action begins Monday, October 8, with the final on Sunday, October 15 (Shanghai is 12 hours ahead of US EDT, 15 hours ahead of US PDT time zones).
