Fresh off his 4th title in Indian Wells, along with tying the record of Masters 1000 titles, Roger Federer is in Miami this week for the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open. A two-time champion (2005, 2006), the Swiss maestro will seek his third title in Miami this year and hopes to continue the reunion with old trophies; Rotterdam 2005, Dubai 2007, Indian Wells 2006 – all titles won again in 2012.
Federer is in the top half of the draw with Novak Djokovic. The bottom half of the draw is headed by Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. Receiving a first round bye, the Swiss maestro could face young American, Ryan Harrison in the second round. After that, he could face Andy Roddick in the third round, followed by Gael Monfils or Juan Monaco in the fourth round. By the business end of the tournament, a quarterfinal match could feature Mardy Fish, Nicolas Almagro, Fernando Verdasco, or Kevin Anderson. Projected seeding provides a clash vs Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, and potentially a rematch of the 2005 final, against Rafael Nadal.
The Swiss maestro is 22-2 with 3 titles in 2012 so far. He is 39-2 since the 2011 US Open. Check out the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open draw below.
