Indian Wells 2012 Draw

The draw was released earlier today for the year’s first masters 1000 event, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California. Roger Federer is coming off back to back titles in Rotterdam and Dubai. He travelled straight from Dubai to New York City for the BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden on Monday. The Swiss maestro is expected to be in Indian Wells by Thursday.

Looking at the draw, a tricky path is defined for Federer to advance to the later stages of the tournament. The draw splits the big four in half, with Djokovic and Murray in the top half, Federer and Nadal in the bottom half. Federer receives a first round bye, facing either Tursunov or wildcard Kudla in the second round. His path from there onward is immediately tricky. A potential match against Milos Raonic lurks in the third round, followed by a fourth round match vs Monfils, and quarterfinal against either Ferrer, Del Potro, or Verdasco. By seedings, Rafa Nadal is the match-up in the semifinals, and either Djokovic or Murray in the final. View the full draw below (click to enlarge).
