Switzerland is playing Portugal this weekend for a spot in the World Group in 2012. It appears to be another two man show for the Swiss team as Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka are #1 and #2 for singles and are also scheduled to play doubles Saturday.
Federer was up first against Rui Machado and gave Switzerland a 1-0 lead with a 5-7 6-3 6-4 6-2 win. Stan the man Wawrinka was up second and defeated Federico Gil, 7-5 6-3 6-4. With the Swiss needing one win to clinch, the 2008 Olympic duo will take to the court for tomorrow’s doubles match.
