Roger Federer was handed a tough draw at this year’s French Open, starting off in the first round with the dangerous Feliciano Lopez. The Swiss maestro was aware of the potential upset Lopez could cause especially after their super close meeting in Madrid but today was a different story as he advanced in straight sets, 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3).
Roger made this match look straight forward, playing clean points from start to finish, hitting some amazing winners, using his backhand slice with precision and improved serve to get thru in a solid win. It was very exciting to see Federer play with such care and awareness against an opponent such as Lopez in the first round. So Roger is thru to the second round in Paris. Stay tuned for highlights at this same page later today.
