Federer Storms into 8th straight Australian Open Semifinals; Meets Rafa on Practice Court

Roger advanced to his 8th straight semifinal at the Australian Open with a quick and dominating 6-1 6-3 6-3 win over compatriot and good friend Stan the Man Wawrinka. Coming into this match Stan had been playing amazing tennis, especially with his win over Monfils and Roddick in the past two rounds. Yet Roger turned his game up a gear and its not consecutive anymore (well 2 consecutive), but its his 27th grand slam semifinal and 8th consecutive (WOW) Australian Open semifinal. He awaits the winner of tonight’s quarterfinal between Djokovic and Berdych.

Roger played very well and looked very relaxed as if it was a practice session rather than a match. AND HE HIT ANOTHER TWEENER, actually almost TWO. On one point he nearly went for hitting two tweeners, but stuck to one, hitting a tweener lob. He ended up losing the point after a rally with a lazy backhand. Check out this amazing photo below. I know I’m making it my new iPhone wallpaper and the photo above this as my desktop background. Do the same if you wish, just download, save, and set as your wallpaper.

Tweener at about a minute into this video (and whoever uploaded the video – No it is not a “tweener fail,” he just lost the point on a lazy backhand after a rally
