Roger Federer and Lleyton Hewitt took part in a new kind of format for tennis, called Fast4 Tennis. The unique format, with first to 4-game sets, playing lets, no-ad scoring, and 5-point tiebreakers at 3-all was a match for charity Monday night in Sydney, Australia. Coming off his 1000th career win and Brisbane International Title, the Swiss maestro joined 2-time grand slam champion Hewitt in some friendly warm-ups alongside the Sydney harbor.
The evening featured the best-of-five set match in Fast4 format, where Federer defeated Hewitt 4-3 2-3 3-4 4-0 4-3. Both players will now head to Melbourne in preparation for the Australian Open, which begins Monday, January 19. Draw ceremonies will be held Friday, January 16.
