London 2012 Olympics Draw

The draw for the 2012 Olympic games in London was held earlier today. Roger Federer, recently reclaiming world #1 again, is the top seed, and will face Alejandro Falla in the first round. Federer and Falla have met once before, notably at Wimbledon in 2010, where the Swiss fought back from a two sets to love deficit to prevail in five sets, in the first round.

The tricky draw continues, as Federer could face Julien Benneteau in the second round, whom he defeated in the third round this year at Wimbledon after down two sets to love. Format for the Olympics is best of three sets, while the final will be best of five sets. Potential opponents in the third round include Verdasco, Istomin, or Muller. Beyond that stage, American John Isner or Serbian Janko Tipsarevic await in the quarterfinals.

Novak Djokovic is seeded second, with third seeded Andy Murray in his half. Rafael Nadal withdrew due to injury. Federer may face David Ferrer or Juan Martin Del Potro in the semifinals by seeding.
