Another one of those days for Roger. Unfortunately with age and time, these are occurring more often than fans are used to. It makes you appreciate and value even more the “Djokovic-like 2011” that Roger played at for several years, yet still gives you a let-down feeling in the present for each loss.
Today was a bad day at the office for Roger. He was missing groundstrokes and not reading the Berdych serve well enough. Credit to the Czech, who moves on after a 6-2 7-6 (3) win over Federer. “I definitely didn’t feel I was getting a great read on his first serve today,” Federer said. “He served well and played a good match. Unfortunately, I didn’t play a very good tiebreaker today.”
Next up for Roger is probably a few days off to recover and then its onto Flushing Meadows, New York, to prepare for the US Open. Stay tuned for more in the coming days, spotlight features included.
