Federer crushes Simon in Rome

Roger Federer continued his sharp play Thursday night as he took on Gilles Simon. The Swiss maestro breezed past the Frenchman 6-1 6-2 in just 1 hour 2 minutes. His aggressive play began behind his strong serving, 73% for the match, winning 75% of points on his first serve and 83% of points on his second serve.

Federer never faced a break point and converted 4/8 on his own break chances. The Swiss will face Jerzy Janowicz in the quarterfinals on Friday.
