Federer moves past Harrison

Roger Federer is off to a winning start in Miami at the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open. The Swiss maestro began quickly and played sharp throughout the course of the match, breaking the young American twice to win the first set in just 25 minutes. After cruising thru the first set and up to serving for the match against Ryan Harrison, the Swiss maestro’s game dropped a level. Harrison kept up his intensity to force a tiebreak but that was all the American could do as Federer would go on to clinch the match, 6-2 7-6 (3). He now faces another American, long time rival Andy Roddick, in the third round. Federer is a two time champion in Miami (2005, 2006).

The Swiss maestro extends his winning streak to 16 matches and is 40-2 since the 2011 US Open, a run which includes 6 titles (Basel, Paris, London, Rotterdam, Dubai, Indian Wells).
