Many messages coming in have addressed that chat service in the right sidebar is missing. I am aware of it and had this post prematurely written to acknowledge it. Meebo is the service which powered chat on FedererFan07 but very soon they are shutting down the service which allows sites to embed a chat box, in addition to their rooms product. Thus I was informed to let my site’s viewers know in advance of the date (October 4). Close to that date or on it, the chat box would have mysteriously disappeared.
So unfortunately chat is going to be absent from the site for now and in the near future. Here is the official statement via Meebo.
“We regret to inform you that we have decided to shut down the Meebo rooms product. This is not a decision we have made lightly. At Meebo, we are creating products that connect people to interests and to other people who share those interests, and we have come to believe that Meebo Rooms no longer help us best serve those goals.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we want to let you know exactly what is going away so you can take any measures you feel are necessary in preparation.”
